DEMOCRACY

Early thinkers beheld it with disdain
All tought it will lead to chaos and no gain
Yet it appealed to all mankind
Male and female whatever their kind
It did thrive this noble ideal
That holds meaning to a great deal


Freedom of opinion the essence of democracy
Resisted for long by the fledgling aristocracy
It respects everybody's idiosyncrasy
Even men you might call lousy
Magna Silencia when they seek to speak
oh the beauty that took it to is peak


Many a battle has been fought for its sake
Civil wars that did so many lives take
"Lest government of the people from the earth
should perish or its principles dearth
Even when justifications turned out to be fake
Oil gains were enough to sweep it under the lake

Today I witness a total aberration
A version of democracy in my nation
Peoples opinion are not respected
When in truth it should be expected
For in democracy one truth holds
A principle that doth many a man molds
Though the majority would have their way
Still, the minority must have their say!
