THE COLONIALIST

From a land across the seas you came
Crossing many leagues for fame
I go to barbaric Africa you said
In the end I will show it paid
To give them my civilization so dear
With the gun and the bible you made
A people so sweet live in fear
Oh will this memory ever fade?

Several decades down the lane
Looking out my window pane
I sit and weep in pain
For all you did was vain
At Berlin for months you planned
How to steal a continents wealth
With the gun you came in stealth
Leaving my continent drained

Alas! It was so foul
The havoc in your soul
For administrative ease you joined
Nations so dissimilar and foiled
With different values and culture
it was disaster you tried to nurture
The ricochet of your error
Is felt in the land as terror

Oh colonialist what have you done
That even after you've long gone
A people so sweet and dear
Still live today in total fear
An unknown tomorrow was sown
In 1914 when my country came to being
For since you came to reign
They kill destinies that are grown!
